As they run, their hooves barely touch the ground. Their movements are synchronized, as if they are dancing to an invisible melody, embodying the harmony of nature. The wildflowers they pass by paint the landscape and create a delicate contrast against the lush green grass.

These beautiful Arabians are bred by a friend who had me over for a day to photograph them in the gorgeous late summer pasture. I came away with amazing images and he got photos for his breeding portfolio.

Another wonderful winter lighthouse on Lake Michigan. This is south of the last which is Grand Haven, this is in South Haven. I don't think this year is likely to give me these ice encrusted lighthouses but I can always hope for next year.

Dear friends that moved away gave us this oversized hummingbird that always makes me smile. Combined with Trader Joes' tribute to spring tulips, it speaks to me of a crazy joyous moment of spring anticipation and the hope of happier times.

This lovely little spring flower is called Star of Bethlehem. It is actually invasive and toxic. I found a certain irony in the name. Do your research! Things are not always what they appear to be.

Sorry to revive this memory, but disco is all I could think of when I first saw this image.

The bokeh is 100% real! I finally got my telephoto lens and thought it was all about wildlife. I had no idea the it would be incredible for flower photography. Something new to learn every day in the photo world.

I have never visited this historic landmark since I don't cope with crowds, but the current lockdown meant that no one was there, and the grounds continued open for public viewing. It was an amazing morning and photo op.

Originally constructed in 1761, in 1964, the City of Holland purchased the windmill De Zwaan from a retired miller in the town of Vinkel in the province of Noord Brabant, the Netherlands. It was shipped to Holland, Michigan and reassembled there.

Day two of my lighthouse shoot was not so cooperative as at Point Betsie When I arrived at the Manistee light the snow and ice made it dangerous to get as far out on the pier as I would have liked. It was too easy to slip off into the channel which was NOT frozen. It also made the white clad lighthouse pretty indistinguishable from the surrounding landscape. Still with some exposure blending and bit of color enhancement to the sky I came away with an image I could share.

Even thought the lightkeeper's house was torn down, this is still an unusually beautiful lighthouse with its natural brick finish.

Prior to 1900, the brick was left in its natural color and state, as it was unusually hard and held up well to the elements. Having it in natural tones, however, was a boon to the Lighthouse keeper, who did not have to apply a yearly coat of whitewash. In 1900 the light was painted white for the first time, to assuage the complaints of mariners who said the brick was difficult to see. It remained that color until 1975, when it was sand blasted, and returned to its natural color. The lantern is capped by a copper roof

The presence and continuous use of the original Third Order Fresnel lens makes this a relatively rare light.

Unlike most orders of the period, under which the arts flourished, the Cistercians exercised severe restrictions on their use of art. During the course of the 12th century the sculptural decoration of churches, manuscript illumination, stone towers on churches, and stained glass were all successively proscribed. Reflecting this severity is the austerely impressive architecture of the more than 700 Cistercian monasteries that spread throughout Europe in the 12th century, most of them built in isolated places.

The National Trust bought the 674-acre (273 ha) Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal estate from North Yorkshire County Council in 1983. In 1986 the parkland in which the abbey is situated and the abbey was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

This little Michigan Lily grows with a few friends in the ditch alongside of our road. Years ago they grew in abundance along the roads in our area, but once the county began mowing along the road right of way, the lilies disappeared. You can imagine my delight a few years ago when I saw them making a comeback in the ditches where the mowers can't reach.
